As a new patient, your initial examination is designed to allow us to become familiar with your oral status. We will examine your teeth and gums to see how healthy your mouth is and measure your gingival pockets. You may be asked to open and close your mouth to evaluate your bite. Your teeth will be charted to include all fillings, extracted teeth, bone loss and future treatment that may needed.
Your exam may also include a tongue and throat evaluation. X-rays may be taken during your exam to determine bone loss and check for cavities.
Dental History During your first dental visit, you'll be asked about dental problems you've had, and what your current symptoms are. You may also be asked about your eating habits and, your flossing and brushing routine. A medical questionnaire has to be filled out to make us aware of current medical problems, allergies and medications.
Treatment Planning Based on the examination, we can answer any questions or concerns you may have about your oral health and recommend some treatment options. These may range from a combination of self-care and regular dental cleanings to surgery. We can set up appointments, suitable to your time schedule to complete your dental treatment. If you are in need of any special services, we have excellent consultation relationships with dental specialists in the area. It is of utmost importance to ensure that your treatment is not solely determined by what your insurance company covers. We have your "best" dental health at heart and our recommendations may differ from your insurance coverage.
Continuing Care We believe in the importance of regular preventive dental care. We have developed an effective appointment system that tells us when it's time for your regular check up. We can call you for your appointment or you may book your next check up appointment before you leave your present appointment. We will send out a reminder and call to confirm your appointment. This ensures that you maintain your oral health. Preventive dentistry is the most healthy and cost efficient way to keep your smile.
